Express News Service

BENGALURU:  Legislative Assembly member K B Koliwad, who heads the House committee to check encroachments around lakes, said there are too many constructions around buffer zones of lakes and added that the government has to take action.

Speaking at a press conference after a meeting of the House committee on Wednesday, he said that no permission will be given for new constructions henceforth.

“In Arakere and Hulimavu, Valmark Constructions has encroached upon a lake and constructed 34 houses.

“This is also in the buffer zone. We have issued a notice to them not to give possession of these houses, but they are still going ahead with the construction. We have ordered that the encroachments be removed,” he said.

Another meeting of the committee will be held on Saturday.
