Cook sexually assaults 10-year-old girl at Kolar government hostel in Karnataka

The matter came to light only when the girl’s parents registered a complaint with the zila panchayat, after which a case was registered in the Bangarapet Police Station.

KOLAR: A 10-year old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at a government hostel in Bangarpet of Kolar District. A case has been registered against the cook of the hostel, who the girl named as the person who sexually abused her, and the warden and assistant cook who did nothing to protect her.

According to the police, the girl studying, in the sixth standard, was sexually assaulted by the cook of the hostel, Narayanappa (50).

The incident came to light after the girl went home 10 days ago. When her parents asked her to go back to the hostel, she refused and told them of the incident. She also revealed that the crime occurred with the knowledge of the warden and assistant cook.

Although the issue was brought to the knowledge of warden Chikkanna and assistant Radha, they failed to protect the girl and also did not inform the police, a complaint made by her mother to the police said.

KGF Superintendent of Police Lokesh Kumar told Express said a case has been filed based on a complaint made by the victim's mother on August 28 night, Bangarpet police have begun investigations.

The accused, which include Chikkanna and Radha, have been booked under various sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act 2012. The girl has been referred for medical treatment.
