Cops close to solving Kalburgi murder: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

The CM added that there was a close link between the murders of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare in Maharastra.

BENGALURU: Even as questions are being raised over the pace of investigation in connection with the murder of eminent writer M M Kalburgi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claimed that they were “close to solving the crime.”

In a release, Siddaramaiah said, “..the Karnataka Police Team has been given instructions to increase co-operation between the investigating team in Maharashtra and the investigating team in Karnataka and to examine all inputs closely. I would like to assure the people of Karnataka that our investigating team is close to solving the crime and appropriate action shall follow soon.”

He said that there was a close link between the murders of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare in Maharastra. 

“The motive behind the crime is ascertained as attack on intellectuals holding divergent views on matters of historical inquiry,” the release said. 

Meanwhile, writers and activists are scheduled to hold a memorial on August 30, to mark the second anniversary of Kalburgi’s assassination. A section of social media users have also launched an online campaign demanding the government to bring the guilty to book.
