KAGINELE (HAVERI): How much ever the Congress may oppose the OBC Commission, the Modi government will ensure its passage and accord it constitutional status, BJP national president Amit Shah has said.

Addressing an OBC convention here on Tuesday, Shah lashed out at the Congress for stalling the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha and said, “With the majority NDA enjoys in the Lok Sabha it got passed there, but it is pending in the Upper House. The Congess is pressing for the inclusion of two members of minority communities which was an unreasonable demand.”

“Siddaramaiah claims he is an OBC leader and boasts of protecting their interests, can he convince his leadership in Delhi to cooperate with the Centre in passing the Bill?” Shah asked. He said the BJP was “committed” to ensuring constitutional status to the OBC Commission.

Shah said, “Elected representatives of these communities would have a fair representation in the state cabinet if the party comes to power in Karnataka and all efforts will be made to re-establish their honour.”
