BENGALURU: In a reportedly desperate bid to put an end to the bitter episode of assault on a 24-year-old youth by his son, Shanthinagar Congress MLA N A Haris is said to have pleaded with the victim Vidvat Loganathan’s family to withdraw the case against his son Mohammed Nalapad Haris, the prime accused.

Haris along with his wife visited Mallya Hospital, where Vidvat is undergoing treatment, late Thursday evening. Vidvat’s family sources said that Haris, who met Loganathan, made a request  in this regard. However, The New Indian Express could not independently verify this. When TNIE tried contacting Haris to verify this, he did not respond to calls.

“He had come along with his wife and pleaded with Vidvat’s father not to file objections to his son’s bail petition. He explained the ordeal his family is undergoing since the day the incident took place. He tried hard to convince Loganathan, but in vain,” a source close to Vidvat’s family said.“At one point, Haris told the family that he would bring his son and make him apologise to Vidvat.  Haris’ wife also tried to convince Loganathan, but the latter did not give in,” the source added.
