HDK gets Centre’s assurance on defence land for Namma Metro project

The Chief Minister has also received favourable response from Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on getting a few pockets of land in Bengaluru belonging to the Defence ministry.

BENGALURU:  Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has termed his first on-the-job visit to Delhi after becoming Chief Minister as “very successful” as it has enabled the state to get grants of about `2,500 crore from various departments of the Union government.The Chief Minister has also received favourable response from Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on getting a few pockets of land in Bengaluru, belonging to the Defence ministry, for Namma Metro project.

Kumaraswamy had a hectic schedule in New Delhi on Wednesday, the second day of his visit, when he met Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Food and Civil Supplies minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Highways and Water Resources minister Nitin Gadkari and Railways minister Piyush Goyal.“Some pockets of land needed for expansion of Metro network and construction of Metro stations in Bengaluru belongs to the Defence Ministry. I have received a favourable response from Nirmala Sitharaman on my request for providing land,” Kumaraswamy said.

Kumaraswamy’s talks with Paswan has proved effective in getting the `954 crore pending grants from the Centre towards support price paid by the state government for procurement of food grains from farmers since 2014. Paswan issued necessary orders in this regard, Kumaraswamy said.

Radha Mohan Singh has appreciated Karnataka’s decision to set up mega dairies in Hassan, Kolar and Dakshina Kannada and has assured a grant of `900 crore. Gadkari has promised to speed up the implementation of Bengaluru-Mysuru Express Highway project, Kumaraswamy said.
