UDUPI : The police on Saturday questioned a few people associated with Shiroor Mutt seer Lakshmivara Theertha, who died at a hospital in Manipal on Thursday.

They had filed a case of unnatural death following suspicions raised over the 54-year-old seer’s demise.

So far, the police have questioned four people, including a woman who often visited the mutt, a servant at the mutt, and a cook.

Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi, however, denied reports of the police detaining anyone in the case.

‘’We only questioned a few people ...,” he said on Saturday while requesting the media not to “sensationalise” the case.Police sources told TNIE the Forensic Science Laboratory report from Mangaluru is likely to arrive in 10-12 days.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that the seer’s death could have been linked to property dealings. Police, however, refused to confirm this theory and said investigation was under way.
