BENGALURU: The owner of a plot who kept delaying the sale of a property, was directed to refund the advance amount of Rs 2.50 lakh at 12 per cent interest to a buyer by Bangalore (Urban II) Additional district consumer disputes redressal forum here recently.
T Raju of College road in Katmandal Layout in Hosakote, under an agreement for sale of a site (40x30 sqft) had paid an advance amount of Rs 2.50 lakh by cheque to the owner Jayasheela Reddy of OMBR layout in Banaswadi in May 2014.
However, the owner Reddy failed to keep his word and did not hand over the site even after three years.
Based on the complaint, Consumer forum issued notices to Reddy. With the owner remaining exparte, the forum conducted proceedings and directed Reddy to refund advance amount at 12 per cent interest within a month.
Forum also directed site owner to pay an additional Rs 10,000 for causing mental agony and towards litigation expenses.
Consumer forum directs agency to replace faulty mobile handset
Bengaluru: Bangalore (Urban II) Additional district consumer disputes redressal forum directed Lenovo India Private Limited’s authorised agency in Marathalli to replace the faulty Lenovo K3 Note mobile of K S Ravikumar with a functional mobile set.
Ravikumar of Jnanabharathi Enclave had purchased the mobile from Flipkart in 2015. The mobile stopped working on November 2, 2015. Ravikumar contacted the company’s customer care and as advised he approached the authorised service centre seeking a replacement for the faulty cellphone.
The centre declared that liquid had damaged the handset and refused to replace it. Ravikumar then filed a case in consumer forum which observed that the service centre had not submitted any document to back its claims of customer-induced damage. It asked the agency to replace the handset and pay Rs 5,000 as litigation expenses to Ravikumar.
