Lingayat leader Maate Mahadevi dies at 73 due to multiple organ failure 

According to doctors from the hospital, 73-year-old Maate Mahadevi is suffering from multiple organ failure and was admitted to hospital on March 9th.

BENGALURU: Prominent religious leader from Lingayath community Maate Mahadevi (73) died at a Bengaluru hospital on Thursday due to multiple organ failure. 

She was admitted to hospital on March 9th due to multiple organ failure and was on ventilation for the last few days. The doctors at Manipal Hospital announced her death. She was the first female seer of the community.

Dr Sudarshan Ballal, director Manipal Institute of Nephrology said, "She has been suffering from kidney and lung disease and we are treating her at the ICU." 

Doctors also said that she had come for treatment five months ago with the same problems and that time she recovered. "But now her condition is critical and she is on fluids," said doctors.
