Another wild elephant captured in Kodagu

A male wild elephant aged about 38 years has been captured following efforts of over 120 forest staff alongside five tamed elephants.

MADIKERI: The Forest Department has captured another rogue tusker in Kodagu. The capture operation was led across Kannangala - Yaduru villages in Ammathi limits.

A male wild elephant aged about 38 years has been captured following efforts of over 120 forest staff alongside five tamed elephants. Sharpshooter Ranjan tranquilised the wild elephant and steps were taken to shift the jumbo to Dubare Elephant Camp in Kushalnagar.

The state government had extended permission to capture three male tuskers that often frequented human habitats in Ammathi limits after continuous human deaths were reported in the region this month due to the wildlife conflict. Similarly, two male tuskers have been captured.
