MANGALURU: A team of 30 police personnel have been deputed to escort 21 detained Bangladeshi nationals from Mangaluru to West Bengal, where they will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) for further action and deportation.

Last month, Mangaluru City Police detained 21 Bangladeshi nationals at construction sites in Mukka and Kodical, within the limits of Surathkal and Urwa police stations. The nationals were allegedly working at the construction sites using forged documents. Three individuals were also arrested who allegedly engaged in bringing Bangladeshi nationals to Mangaluru under the guise of labourers along with labourers from North Indian states and facilitating their employment at construction sites in Mangaluru.

The detained Bangladeshi Nationals allegedly crossed into India illegally through Murshidabad in West Bengal around three months ago without passports or visas before their detention. During the investigation, police found that they had allegedly obtained forged Aadhaar cards by affixing their photographs onto Aadhaar cards carrying West Bengal addresses in Murshidabad.

The deportation process was initiated by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

The Bangladeshi nationals left Mangaluru by bus and are scheduled to travel by train to Malda on August 23. They will be handed over to BSF personnel by August 26, following which the BSF will take further action regarding their deportation.
