THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dr M.V.Vishnu Namboothiri has been selected for this year’s P.K.Kalan Award for his contributions to folklore study and research, Cultural Affairs Minister M.A.Baby said here on Tuesday.
The award is instituted in memory of Folklore Academy former chairman, noted Gaddhika artiste and social activist P.K.Kalan. The award carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh, statuette and citation. A Folklore Academy former chairman, Vishnu Namboothiri has written over 50 books, including ‘’Thottam Pattu Oru Padanam’’ and ‘’Namboothiri Bhasha Sabdakosham’’. He hails from Karanthattu, Payyannur.
