PALAKKAD: Development works costing Rs 30 lakh will be implemented under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) in each ward in the three grama panchayats of Agali, Sholayar and Pudur in Attappadi block in the current financial year.

This was decided at a meeting of people’s representatives of the Attapadi block panchayat which was held at the community hall here on Friday.

Around 10,000 families will be provided with jobs for 100 days in a year.

Schemes will be implemented by focusing on agriculture. Classes were imparted on the subjects of the laws of the MNREGS, the role of people’s representatives in the implementation of projects, labour budget, social audit and coordination with various departments by district joint programme coordinator B S Thirumeni and block programme officer P V Radhakrishnan.

President of the Pudur grama panchayat Maruthi Suresh presided over the meet. President of the Attapadi block panchayat M R Sathyan inaugurated the training programme.
