TRIPUNITHURA: The 80th death anniversary of His Holiness George Vaakayil was observed with special prayers and a remembrance meet at Maradu Moothedam St Mary Magdalene’s Church on Sunday.
The rituals began at the cemetery where his mortal remains are kept. The Holy Mass was held under the chief priesthood of Fr Paul Thundiyil.
Kottapuram Diocese Metropolitan Bishop Joseph Karikkassery led the Holy Mass. Then was a ‘nercha sadhya’ which was attended by thousands of faithful. Religious discourses, addressed by Fr Alex Vadakkumthala and Fr Paul Thundiyil, were also held.
While delivering the discourses, the priests underscored Vaakayilachan’s contributions in bringing peace and happiness to thousands of faithful.
