E Ahamed gets fresh term as IUML president

Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed was unanimously re-elected as the all-India president of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) at its national general council meeting that concluded here Sunday.

A total of 74 representatives from 14 states took part in the national executive meet that gave the green signal for another term for Ahamed.

State Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty also got a promotion when he was given the post of the treasurer of the national party.

Also elected as secretary of the national leadership was former state education minister E T Mohammed Basheer, currently a Lok Sabha member from Kerala.

In all, 400 leaders from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Puducherry and Bihar took part in the national general council meeting.
