ELOOR: A student drowned and another went missing at the IAC bathing ghat in the Periyar on Friday. The incident occurred when five students of St Joseph’s English Medium HSS, Thrikkakkara, were taking bath at the ghat in the evening. The deceased is Antony Tony, son of Jossy Thaiparambil, Eloor.
He was taken out of the water by the police and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel, and rushed to KIMS Hospital where he was declared dead, CI Rajan said. The rescue operation to find Sajan alias Sachin Vinayak, son of Sudhakaran and Kadungalloor village officer Geetha, was on till late in the night.
The Plus-I students went to the ghat as they had no class on Friday.
