Nine Held on Prostitution Charges

KOLLAM: Based on a tip-off, the Kunnikode Police on Sunday arrested nine persons, including the manager of a lodge and four women, in connection with prostitution.

According to the police, the Riyadh Lodge here is a centre of prostitution on Sundays, as the usually crowded place is deserted on that day.

The arrested have been identified as Das, the manager of the lodge, a native of Kanyakumari; Salim, 56; Ajesh, 24, of Pathanamthitta; Sunil, 39, of Valakom; Chandulal, 24; Sheeja, 34, of Kottiyam; Rama,35, of Thalavoor; Sainaba, 40, of Konni and Ajitha, 34, of Mailam. The accused in  the case underwent medical examination and they will be produced before the court on Monday.
