KOZHIKODE: In yet another incident of moral policing, a female journalist, her younger brother and his girlfriend were allegedly interrogated and attacked by a group of strangers at Kakkadampoyil, Kozhikode.

The incident took place on December 25 when the trio, who were on a tour, arrived at the tourist spot.

A nine-member group of middle-aged men, who introduced themselves as policemen from Nilambur station, accosted them and began abusing them.

According to the journalist, one of the gang members laid his hands on her and even threatened to rape her. The gang fled the scene only after intervention from some local residents. Later, she lodged a complaint at Nilambur police station, after which three of the group members were taken into custody. They were, however, later released on bail.

The journalist claimed that their clout with the local MLA is what got them out. “I have gathered from the local people that these men have close relations with the local MLA. As these people are still having a free run, I am planning to take up the complaint with the women’s commission,” she told Express.
