ALAPPUZHA: A significant difference of opinion emerged in the leadership of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena(BDJS) on Friday after its president Thushar Vellappally said that the opinion of SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan should not be seen as the decision of the BDJS.

He was addressing a press conference after a state committee meeting of the BDJS at Mavelikkara.

The SNDP Yogam general secretary had said that he had held secret talks with the UDF and LDF leaders in connection with the upcoming assembly polls.

Thushar denied his father’s claims and said that Vellappally conducted political discussions only with the BJP. He said that discussions if any held were on behalf of the SNDP Yogam and not the BDJS.

“Vellappally’s opinions were of the SNDP Yogam’s and such decisions should not be interpreted as of BDJS. We (BJDS) welcome  all parties for discussions. There is no special reservation for anyone,” Thushar said. He said that the state committee did not conduct any discussions regarding its political stand.“Our focus is to add more members to our party. We already have more than 5,20,000 members and are targeting 10 lakh by March 15,” he said.

“We will start political discussions only after proving our strength through membership. We provide membership to the people through application forms and not missed calls,” Thushar said.

He said that it was not Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, but KPCC president V M Sudheeran who has left the state in a shambles. He alleged that the liquor policy of Sudheeran has left many in the state ganja addicts.

“We support the LDF’s liquor policy of reducing alcohol consumption through campaigns”, he said.

SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, BDJS leader Subash Vasu and other leaders attended the meeting.
