THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In what appears to be a strategic move, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday announced Pinarayi Vijayan as the Chief Minister of Kerala in the presence of none other than party veteran V S Achuthanandan, widely perceived as a top contender for the post.
Terming VS as the warhorse of revolutionary movement in India, Yechury added that VS would continue as an advisor for the party.
“Comrade VS is like Fidel Castro of Cuba, where he’s in an advisor’s role. Like Castro VS has been inspiring the party,” said Yechury, flanked by the veteran comrade and party state chief Kodiyeri.
