Former union minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) national president E Ahamed, 78, was rushed to King Fahad Hospital.

KOCHI: Former union minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) national president E Ahamed, 78, was rushed to King Fahad Hospital at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on Thursday after he complained of respiratory problems.

Ahamed, who was in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, complained of a breathing problem and was taken to the hospital promptly, his office said.

Condition of the Lok Sabha MP, who is currently in the intensive care unit, is said to be stable. He has been advised a week long rest by the doctors attending him.

The IUML leader, who served as the minister of state for external affairs in the previous UPA government, represents Malappuram constituency in the Lok Sabha.
