KOCHI: The state government on Wednesday told the Kerala High Court the Revenue officers could not implement the eviction order against Munnar’s Love Dale Resort owing to resistance from the resort owner V V George and local political leaders.
The court had dismissed a petition filed by George against the order issued by then Devikulam Sub-Collector Sriram Venkitaraman to take over the resort and 22 cents of land in KDH village, Munnar. Following the court order, Revenue authorities entered the premises for inventorying. Geroge was also served a notice to be present on July 6. In the afternoon, he and a few political leaders entered the premises and deferred official procedures.
George handed over a letter to the Revenue officers expressing his antagonism. When he and others obstructed the officers, the latter left and lodged a complaint with Munnar SHO based on which a case was registered against George and others, the government said. It said after the High Court granted three months to George for removing his personal belongings from the resort, he caused extensive damage to the doors and windows of the resort and also removed the floor tiles.
“Three months are not required to remove belongings. The owner’s action caused enormous loss to the state as the resort is government property. There is nothing to remove. No one is staying at the resort. Necessary instructions should be issued,” the government said.
