Nine lawyers suspended for appearing for media in various cases

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nine lawyers of the Thiruvananthapuram bar have been suspended by the Trivandrum Bar Association (TBA) for appearing for media in various cases, including a defamation case on publishing a statement by advocate Sebastian Paul.  

One of the lawyers who confirmed that a showcause notice has been received said the notice was served for appearing for the media.

He said he would give a reply to the notice. Seven days’ time has been given to reply for the notice, he said. In the notice, the TBA said the lawyers had violated the direction of the general body of the bar association. It is learned the general body meeting of the Association on Tuesday will take a decision on further action.
