THRISSUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday showered praises over late actor Kalabhavan Mani saying people’s representatives should learn lessons from the actor’s life.

However, the chief minister, who was speaking at a function organised by Chalakudy municipality to observe the first death anniversary of the actor, did not say a word on the demand for CBI inquiry into Mani’s death. This, while Mani’s brother R L V Ramakrishnan continued the three-day fast he began on Saturday at Kalagruham seeking a central probe into the actor’s death. Mani’s wife Nimmi was also conspicuous by her absence in the function.

“Mani reached out to people. The people’s representatives should learn to do so,

too. Mani was different from other actors who let success get into their heads. We should incorporate good aspects of his character and habits. He achieved remarkable height due to hard work and dedication,” Pinarayi said, adding, “We should never forget the old ways we travelled.”

MLA B D Devasya also spoke and expressed displeasure over the darkness surrounding Mani’s death.
