THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PWD Minister G Sudhakaran denied reports that survey proceedings for the NH development from Kazhakoottam to Cherthala have been frozen. In a statement, Sudhakaran made it clear the government has not given any instruction to freeze the proceedings at any highway in the state.

He said the news reports were misleading and he had only instructed the District Collectors to re-examine the realignment of highways that had sparked widespread complaints. Sudhakaran said the survey proceedings will begin next week and the re-examination will take place simultaneously.

A special meeting will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday to discuss the issues prevailing in Malappuram. He said the government had no stubbornness on the Malappuram issue and will move ahead to ensure the state’s development.
