Shuhaib should be the last martyr from Kannur: Congress leader AK Antony

The Congress will put not only the murderers of Shuhaib, but also those who ordered the hit, behind bars, said Antony.

KANNUR: The Kerala unit of the CPM is a party with a dead conscience, said senior Congress leader and CWC member A K Antony at Kannur on Sunday. He was inaugurating the reception given to the Janamochanayathra led by KPCC president M M Hassan at Stadium Corner.

Even after repeated murders, the CPM had not shown any regret about those heinous acts, said Antony. The Congress will put not only the murderers of Shuhaib, but also those who ordered the hit, behind bars, said Antony. Shuhaib should be the last martyr from Kannur. The CPM should stop their murder politics in the district. Antony handed over Rs 92 lakh, collected by Congress workers, to Shuhaib's family at the function.

A documentary video produced by the KPCC about Shuhaib named 'Shuhaib the warrior' was also released at the function. Hassan handed over the CD of the documentary to Shuhaib's father C O Muhammad. Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala, K Sudhakaran, K C Joseph, Lally Vincent, Satheeshan Pacheni, Rajmohan Unnithan, Sarathchandra Prasad, Sajeev Joseph participated.Earlier, speaking at the inaugural function of the Janamochanayathra at Payyannur, Hassan said, to remain in power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to make the nation a religion-based country.

The BJP is seen hunting down Dalits and minorities. The rights of the SC/ST people are being suppressed everywhere, he said.The economy has nose-dived under Modi's rule. The government which raises the slogan 'one tax one India' refuses to cut down the taxes of petrol and diesel. Literal looting is taking place in the country in connection with taxes, he said.
