KAMAREDDY: A teacher of Eklara (Pedda) ZPHS was manhandled by villagers and later placed under suspension at Madnoor Mandal here on Thursday for allegedly harassing girl students and writing them love letters.

On the last working day of the academic year, the parents of some girls lodged a complaint with the headmaster of the school against P Vijayakumar, who had been working in the school since the past four years.

They also submitted some of the letters allegedly written by him to girl students as proof. A tense situation prevailed when the teacher came to the school and some youths manhandled him.

Sensing that the situation could escalate, the school authorities locked the teacher up in a classroom. Some villagers called Kamareddy in charge DEO N Rajesh and informed him about the situation.

He then directed Madnoor MEO to visit Eklara village and submit a preliminary report. Following this, the DEO suspended Vijayakumar.
