CPI leader A M Paraman passes away

Paraman, fondly called as 'Paramettan' by all, is also a freedom fighter and trade union leader. He worked as member of CPI State Council and State President of AITUC.

THRISSUR: CPI veteran leader and former Ollur MLA A. M. Paraman, 92, died at his residence here at Poonkunnam on Monday, due to age related ailments.

Paraman, fondly called as 'Paramettan' by all, is also a freedom fighter and trade union leader. He worked as member of CPI State Council and State President of AITUC.

Paraman represented Ollur constituency from 1987 to 1992 in the constituent assembly. As an employee of Sitaram Mills, Paraman successfully united the employees and began his political life from there. He became the leader of trade unions and employees unions at Rajagopal Mills, Alagappa textiles etc along with earthen-tile manufacturing unit employees in the district.

CPI leaders like K. P. Rajendran, Pannian Ravindran and C. N. Jayadevan paid last respects to the departed soul. The body was kept at the CPI district office for public to pay tributes. The funeral was held at Santhighat crematorium of Paramekkavu devaswom.
