ALAPPUZHA: The body of Fr Kuriakose Kattuthara, 61, who died under mysterious circumstances in Jalandhar on Monday, was brought to Pallippuram in Cherthala on Wednesday. His body will be kept at home till 2 pm on Thursday for the public to pay homage. The funeral will be held at St Mary’s Forane Church cemetery at 2.30 pm, said relatives.

“The mystery behind his death has not been cleared and we are waiting for results of the scientific exam of the body,” said Johny Kattuthara, a relative of Fr Kuriakose. “When we reached Jalandhar, the authorities of the diocese told us we can shift the body without legal issues if we don’t raise any complaints. But we refused and told them we suspect foul play behind his death. So, we have demanded a detailed inquiry into the death.”

Fr Kuriakose was born in Chennam Pallippuram panchayat. He studied at St Mary’s LP School, Srambikkal, and SMS Junior High School, Thycattussery. He joined SH Minor Seminary when he was 15. During his second year at the seminary, he was taken to Jalandhar by one of his relatives who was a priest there.
