KOCHI: In a first in the country, the state General Education Department has launched a project that will see teachers utilising the prospects of mobile journalism (MOJO) in complementing their tutoring.

“The teachers will be shooting the videos using their smartphones at the ‘KITE Lens’ education content creation hub set up at Edappally, where all necessary equipment are made available,” said an official with the KITE.

KITE CEO K Anwar Sadath said the hub has world-class facilities, including a 4K video recording system, a sound-treated shooting floor, cyclorama, chroma cutting, sound-visual mixing, a graphic-editing suite, and sound treatment.

“The aim is to bridge the gap between traditional classroom learning and digital learning. The educators will be able to shoot teaching content at a very low cost at the hub,” said the CEO. According to a KITE official, the project is a continuation of the one that was implemented during the pandemic.

“During Covid, videos of teachers anchoring the lessons were shot and then telecast through the KITE Victers channel. This time, the teachers will be coming up with their own content to complement their teaching in classrooms. The ideas will be presented with the support of augmented reality,” he said.
General Education Minister V Sivankutty will inaugurate the facility, set up for a cost of `90 lakh, on Monday.
