BALASORE: The family members of a 25-year-old woman, who was kidnapped from Tamil Nadu, approached the district collector and SP, on Friday.

They said she was being subjected to mental and physical torture by the kidnapper who was planning to sell her off. She is reportedly in Nepal now.

Reports said the woman, a native of Remuna area in Balasore district, was working in a private textile mill in Kancheepuram district while her husband was engaged in a granite factory there. The couple had married eight years back and they have a daughter aged seven.

The woman’s father and husband alleged that supervisor of the textile mill Jayprakash, a native of Nepal, kidnapped her in November last year.

Though her husband had lodged a complaint in Salavakkam police station on November 24, no action has been taken yet. Police are said to have registered a case.

They came to know about Jayprakash’s plan to sell her off after they received a phone call from the woman, a couple of days back. Sensing trouble, the woman’s relatives have appealed to the administration to rescue her.

SP Rajesh Kumar said the police where the incident has occurred would take action and initiate measures to rescue the woman.
