The rustication of First Year student of VSS Medical College Siddharth Tripathy for his suspected role in eve teasing took a new twist on Thursday with the boy’s father filing a complaint at Burla police station alleging assault by the second year students.

After Siddharth’s rustication, his father Satyanarayan Tripathy decided to take on the college authorities for their lopsided decision and filed a complaint against the five students.

He alleged that the senior students assaulted his son mercilessly and forced him to write that he was behind the incident.

Satyanarayan claimed that Siddharth had been implicated falsely and was under mental trauma and demanded impartial probe into the matter.

A case has been registered against five students of VSS Medical, identified as Palas Majhi, Pinaki Dash, Suryakanta Mohapatra, Suraj Jena and Suraj Sharma.

On November 18 the second year students of the college had gone on a picnic at Nrusinghanath temple area in Paikmal block of Bargarh district where a group of seven youths from Padampur had also gone picnicking.

The youths had passed lewd comments at the girl students and even stopped the college bus on Paikmal-Padampur road during the return trip.

The police had to be called in and the seven youths were detained.

The second year students accused Siddharth of his involvement as he hailed from Padampur, and gheraoed the Principal demanding his rustication which was ratified.

He was rusticated the next day.
