BJP president Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said his party will probe all the scams in the State that occurred during the reign of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, if voted to power. Launching a scathing attack on the BJD Government, Rajnath said the 14-year misrule by the BJD has hit the State hard.

During the BJD rule, Odisha witnessed huge mining scam involving Rs 60,000 crore, while corruption in MGNREGA was to the tune of Rs 600 crore.

“I want to assure you that if our government comes to power, we will probe all these scams and we will not spare anyone involved in it,” Rajnath said, while addressing his first election rally at Kotpad in Nabarangpur district.

Hitting out at the BJD, an erstwhile ally, Rajnath said the law and order situation in the State has deteriorated.

The State is witnessing murders, kidnappings, dacoities and crimes against women everyday, he added.

Addressing his second public meeting at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district, Rajnath  said the State Government has not taken proper steps for procurement of paddy at remunerative prices from farmers and there has been large-scale migration,, particularly from Kalahandi district, due to lack of employment opportunities.

Those migrating elsewhere in search of jobs are subjected to exploitation, he said, adding that if BJP comes to power, it would ensure employment for youths and minimum daily wage from Rs 180 to Rs 200.

The BJP chief slammed the Centre for the unprecedented price rise caused by large-scale corruption amounting to Rs 5.5 lakh crore during the last decade.

People face inflation whenever Congress comes to power and the 55 years that the party ruled the country since Independence had proved to be disastrous.

On the contrary, there was not a single instance of corruption during the six-year NDA rule under Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he claimed, adding that inflation was kept under control and prices of commodities were not allowed to soar.

Rajnath also campaigned for the party candidates for Phulbani and Berhampur Lok Sabha seats by addressing separate public meetings there.
