Prananath Award for 2014 Conferred

BHUBANESWAR: Eminent litterateur Sanghamitra Mishra, dramatist Amarendra Sarangi, actress Archita Sahu, social worker Anita Pati, singer Ira Mohanty and educationist Suprita Patnaik were conferred Prananath Award-2014 at the 44th State-level Prananath Memorial function held here on Tuesday.

Speaking as the chief guest Excise Minister Damodar Rout said those holding public positions should take inspiration from Prananath Patnaik, the veteran freedom fighter and revolutionary leader, who faced various challenges during his fight for the cause of poor.

KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta, who was felicitated on the occasion, said Patnaik’s efforts in facilitating research on Odia literature were commendable.

Secretary of Prananath Memorial Committee, Dillip Hali said soon a book on Patnaik would be launched by Odisha Sahitya Akademi.

Among others, Rajya Sabha MP Baishnab Charan Parida, litterateur Haraprasad Das, trade union leader Sauribandhu Kar were present among others.
