'Tulasi Apa' Gets Applaud at Fest

BHUBANESWAR: Odia film ‘Tulasi Apa’, the first ever biopic made in the State, has garnered high praise at Bengaluru International Film Festival recently.

Based on life of eminent social activist Tulasi Munda, Amiya Patnaik-directed film was screened on the second day of the film festival where it found a place in Indian Cinema Competition (ICC) segment. The jury was unanimous in its view that the movie has opened new vistas for regional films.

Coming from the house of Amiya Patnaik Productions, the film has Barsha Nayak playing the social activist on screen. The support cast includes Madhusmita, Lochhani Bagh, Premanjana Parida, Mamata Panda and Sujit Paikray.

The film, debut venture of producer Anupam Patnaik, has been shot at different locations of Keonjhar district where Munda was born and took up the causes of the common people as mission of her life.

In November last, ‘Tulasi Apa’ was screened at Kolkata International Film Festival where it got rave reviews.
