4 found dengue positive in Odisha's Ganjam district

Out of the 116 people tested 4 were found to be positive and authorities have already started disinfecting the water bodies in the area.

BERHAMPUR: Dengue scare has gripped people of Ganjam. Four people have so far been found dengue positive in the district.On Thursday, a woman of Bomkoi village in Digapahandi block suffering from the disease was admitted to MKCG MCH, said District Malaria Officer Uma Shankar Mishra. He said blood samples of 116 persons of the district were recently tested and four dengue positive cases were detected. Disinfecting water bodies in the district has already started and a three-member team has been entrusted with spreading awareness on dengue in the district.

Sources said the first dengue case came to fore earlier this month when a youth of Adapada village in Hinjili block returned home from Surat after suffering from fever. He was admitted to MKCG on July 2 where he was found to be dengue positive. Ganjam Collector Premchandra Choudhary, BeMC Commissioner Nikhil Pawan Kalyan visited the vulnerable areas in the city on Friday and directed the sanitary staff to clear stagnated water and spray insecticides regularly.
