Foundation in Bhubaneswar in memory of the late cricketer Ben

The family of cricketer Yashpal Mohanty, popularly known as Ben, has announced formation of a foundation, BEN-E-VOLENT, in memory of the former Ranji player who passed away last month.

BHUBANESWAR: The family of cricketer Yashpal Mohanty, popularly known as Ben, has announced the formation of a foundation, BEN-E-VOLENT, in memory of the former Ranji player who passed away last month at the age of 38.

BEN-E-VOLENT will cater to the financial needs of neurosurgery, cardiac and paediatric patients who are poor and needy. The foundation will also have a corpus fund which will be utilised to provide the financial support. Funds will be released by the foundation based on discretion of its members which will also include competent doctors from Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar.

Ben, son of retired bureaucrat Madan Mohan Mohanty and famous Odissi danseuse Kumkum Mohanty, was injured in a car mishap two years ago which left him in a state of coma. He passed away on February 23.
