DHENKANAL: Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday said there is ample opportunities for skill development of youths and financial support for entrepreneurs to create employment in the district. The district administration is ready to provide financial support to genuine entrepreneurs under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), he said at an entrepreneurship development programme (EDP) held here on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Collector asked the officials concerned to encourage the trained and skilled youths to take up entrepreneurship in the field of food processing and other allied sectors under PMEGP. The district officials should extend hand-holding supports to the startups in providing bank linkages and know-how on preparing projects proposals, he added.
General manager of Regional Industries Centre Debabrata Jena informed that as many as 70 trades are coming under PMEGP while the Government has given `1.34 crore by sanctioning 72 project proposals through banks. The district had secured first position in implementation of PMEGP last year, he added.
Later, the Collector distributed EDP certificates to 63 entrepreneurs who were imparted with 12-day training on different segments. Two successful entrepreneurs Sahadev Sahoo and Bata Krishna Sahoo also presented their business modules in the meeting. Among others, Training Coordinator of Institute of Entrepreneurship Development Subrat Patnaik and Lead Bank Manager G Mohapatra also spoke.
