BHUBANESWAR: A regional workshop on ‘Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence’ was organised by the Centre of Excellence of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at DAV Public School, Unit-VIII, here.
Around 280 educators and academic experts from Odisha and West Bengal took part in the workshop. The one-day workshop focused on computational thinking (CT) and AI pedagogy, interdisciplinary integration and ethical use of AI in education, in line with the NEP 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.
Venue director Ipsita Das urged educators to adapt to rapidly-evolving digital innovations. CBSE joint secretary and head of the Centre of Excellence T Mate stressed the need to integrate CT and AI into classroom practices, while regional officer Lalit Kumar Kapil emphasised the importance of equipping teachers with future-ready competencies. Dr Ashish Ghosh, director, IIIT Bhubaneswar delivered the keynote address, followed by thematic sessions by Dr Pratibha Kohli, former principal of Maharaja Agrasen School, New Delhi, and Dr Kamlesh Vyas, partner, Deloitte. The sessions focused on computational thinking pedagogy, its practical applications and relevance to teachers.
The contribution of the State Council for Educational Research Training, led by director Madhusmita Sahoo was also acknowledged.
