Two juveniles among five arrested for stabbing youth to death in Odisha's Jeypore

Police said Kishan Kuldeep of KBD village in Borigumma was wrongfully restrained and stabbed to death by the accused over past enmity on Friday.

JEYPORE: Jeypore Town police on Saturday arrested five persons including two minors for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 19-year-old youth near KTM showroom here.

The accused are Jaga Harijan (20), Dinesh Takiri (20), Chandra Kanta Harijan (18) and the two children in conflict with law, all residents of Jeypore.

Police said Kishan Kuldeep of KBD village in Borigumma was wrongfully restrained and stabbed to death by the accused over past enmity on Friday.

Following the incident, police immediately secured the crime scene and deployed a scientific team to collect blood samples and other material evidence for forensic examination. Postmortem was subsequently conducted and the body handed over to the bereaved family.

CCTV footage from the area was analysed to identify the accused and trace their movements after the crime. The footage helped police establish the involvement of the five accused.

Acting on reliable information, police conducted a raid near Parabeda in the early hours of Saturday and apprehended Jaga. During interrogation, he disclosed the involvement of the other accused and the location where the weapons of offence had been concealed.

Based on his statement, a blood-stained knife and an iron rod were recovered. Subsequently, Dinesh, Chandra and the two juveniles were apprehended. Police also seized two motorcycles allegedly used in the commission of the offence, and mobile phones of the accused.

The three adult accused were forwarded to the SDJM court. The two minors were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
