BHUBANESWAR: Family members of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, who was lynched by a mob within Balianta police limits on May 7, held protests at Lower PMG here on Saturday, expressing discontent over the alleged delay by the Crime Branch in arresting all the accused involved in the gruesome crime.

They questioned the motive behind not invoking specific sections of mob lynching under the BNS in connection with Soumya’s murder.

Soumya’s father Dushasan and other family members demanded conduct of polygraph test of the two women who had alleged that he had molested them.

They also insisted on conducting the polygraph test of Soumya’s friend Om Prakash Rout to elicit more information as he was present with him on the day of the incident. The protesters urged the state government to extend financial assistance to Soumya’s parents as he was their sole breadwinner.
