KATTAPPANA: The team of experts under the Committee To Coordinate(CTC) of the empowered panel resumed the inspection of the Mullaperiyar dam on Monday after a new generator was brought in to rectify the voltage fluctuation problem.

The inspection of the dam with the help of Remote-Operated Vechicle (ROV) was disrupted on Sunday owing to the voltage fluctuation at the dam site.

A senior official of the Irrigation Department said that the inspection was resumed after generators were brought in from Tamil Nadu.  The machine was working smoothly and the inspection would finish at the right time, he said.

Mullaperiyar special cell chairman M K Parameswaran reached the dam area on Monday evening. M Sasi, dam design committee member, and Daniel George, executive engineer of the Irrigation Department, accompanied the expert team.

TN was represented by a chief engineer of the PWD Department. Other detailed tests, including upstream mapping (to check the presence of cavity in the upstream), collection of samples from limestone quarry and ultrasonic waves tests would be conducted in the coming days.
