TIRUCHY: The opportunity given to M Paranjothi, to contest in Tiruchy West is seen as a reward by AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa to a loyal cadre, who gave up his sitting seat of Srirangam for his leader.

Paranjothi, a dedicated cadre, has been an active member in the party since 1972 and later he stayed with the Jayalalithaa’s faction, when the party split after MGR’s demise.

From 1988 to 1994, Paranjothi was elevated to the post of district deputy secretaryand in the period between 1994 and 96, he was the joint secretary.  From 1996 to 2000, Paranjothi was elevated to the position of urban district secretary and from 2004 to 2006 he was serving as district (rural) secretary.  Son of Muthu Mutharayyar and Alagammal, Paranjothi has a strong educational background. After obtaining a degree in English, he completed BL and then MA in Political Science. He was also practicing in Tiruchy court for three years.

Paranjothi won from Srirangam assembly constituency in 2006. Since AIADMK chief decided to contest from Srirangam during the last assembly elections, Paranjothi ardently worked for her victory.
