CHENNAI: Actor Thiyagu who has been a member of the DMK for over 28 years quit the party four days ago. Though the actor said that he would take a decision about joining any other political party within a couple of days, he is likely to join the AIADMK as he heaped praise on Party Chief J Jayalalithaa.

The main grouse of Thiyagu is this:  Though he has been member of the party since 1983, he has not been recognised at all while his contemporaries have been honoured in the AIADMK.  Apart from that,  the DMK leadership had given undue importance to ‘new comers’ and those who are not even  members during the Assembly elections.

Hailing from the family of late violin maestro Rajamanickam Pillai, Thiyagu said that he joined the DMK, attracted by the writings of Kalaignar. He campaigned for the party in all elections except the this years, but his services to the party were not recognised at all.

During the centenary celebration of his grandfather Rajamanickam Pillai, Karunanidhi had promised take steps for releasing a stamp in his honour.  But he never did it, Thiyagu lamented.
