Express News Service

A 15-year-old boy died after the country-made gun with which he was playing, went off accidentally, at a village near Panruti on Saturday night. Police arrested DMDK’s Panruti union secretary Anandharaman, the boy’s uncle, to whom the gun belonged.

Kamalabalan, son of Kathirkaman, who is Anandharaman’s brother, was studying in Class 10. The family hails from Perperiyangkuppam village near Panruti in Cuddalore district.

On Saturday night, the boy’s body was reportedly found near a temple here. It is said that the boy was at his uncle’s place when he found the country-made gun in an almirah. While he was playing with the gun, he accidentally pulled the trigger, shooting himself. He immediately died from the gunshot. Anandharaman along with a few others immediately burnt the boy’s body as his sister’s wedding is scheduled for Monday.

Meanwhile, the VAO of Perperiyangkuppam, Selvaraj lodged a complaint.   The Muthandikuppam police immediately began an investigation.  They registered a case and arrested Anandharaman, and also seized the gun that the police said Anan-dharaman has no  licence for. As soon the boy’s body was found, there were rumours that the boy might have fallen from the top of the temple and died.
