Investigations into the murder of Dr Arvind Reddy (in picture) have hit a dead-end with police unable to ascertain neither the motive nor the perpetrators behind the gruesome murder. Dr Reddy, State Secretary of BJP medical unit and President of Vellore branch of Indian Medical Association, was brutally murdered outside his clinic at Kosapet in Vellore on October 23 night by a gang of three unidentified persons who came on a motorcycle.

The murder, which shocked the entire city, was being probed by four special teams led by Deputy Superintendents of Police S Seetharaman (Arakkonam), S P Lavanya (Ranipet), V Mathivanan (Katpadi) and S Dhakshinamoorthy (Vellore) under the direct supervision of Vellore Superintendent of Police, I Eswaran. With multiplicity of suspected motives, inquiries thereof had not yielded much information to the police who were desperately trying to make a breakthrough in the case.

With the motive still shrouded in mystery, police were looking into every detail to expeditiously conclude the case successfully. In such a move, police addressed their inquiries to notorious criminals lodged at Puzhal, Vellore and Tiruchy prisons.“The investigation teams have collected the details of notorious criminals in north and central districts of the state and are conducting inquiries with the criminals and their associates hoping to get useful leads into the case. But their attempts so far have failed to fetch them desired results,” said a police officer.

The investigation had also led the police teams to Tiruchy, Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram and Chennai. “The police are also conducting inquiries with a notorious criminal who was arrested and remanded to Vellore prison for an attempted murder case on Vellore Court campus a few months ago,” said the police officer.

Police have not ruled out the real-estate angle out of the picture and also suspected political vendetta behind the murder, said a police source.

District SP, I Eswaran, said, “We have accorded top priority to the case and are making every efforts to solve the case at the earliest.”
