The Southern Railway on Sunday announced mass cancellation and short termination of trains due to damage of pier No.121 at the Pamban Bridge.
According to a press release here, Train No. 22622 Kanyakumari- Rameswaram express leaving Kanyakumari on 15.1.13 and 18.1.13, Train No. 2621 Rameswaram - Kanyakumari Express leaving Rameswaram on 14.1.13, 17.1.13 and 19.1.13, Train No. 56721 Madurai -Ramesw- waram passenger from 14.01.13 to 19.01.13, Train No. 56723 Madurai - Rames- waram Passenger from 14.1.13 to 19.1.13, Train No. 56725 Madurai - Rameswa- ram Passenger from 14.1.13 to 19.1.13, Train No. 56722 Rameswaram - Madurai Passenger from 15.01.13 to 20.1.13, Train No.56724 Rameswaram - Madurai Passenger from 14.1.13 to 19.1.13, Train.No.56726 Rameswaram - Madurai Passenger from 14.1.13 to 19.1.13, Train No.56829 Tiruchchirappalli- Rameswa-ram Passenger from 14.1.13 to 19.1.13 and Train No.56830 Rameswaram-Tiruchchirappalli Passenger from 14.1.13 to 19.1.13 are fully cancelled.
Train No. 16713 Chennai Egmore-Rameswaram Express leaving Chennai Egmore and Train No. 16701 Chennai Egmore- Rames-waram Express leaving Chennai Egmore till 18.1.13, and Train No. 16714 Rameswaram - Chennai Egmore Express leaving Rameswaram and Train No. 16702 Rameswaram - C hennai Egmore Express leaving Rameswaram till 19.1.13 are terminated at Mandapam and partially cancelled between Mandapam and Rameswaram.
Moreover, Train No. 16779 Tirupati- Rameswaram Express leaving Tirupati on 15.1.13 and 18.1.13, Train No. 16780 Rameswaram- Tirupati Express leaving Rameswaram on 14.1.13, 17.1.13 and 19.1.13, Train No. 16734 Okha - Rameswaram Express arriving Rameswa- ram on 17.1.13, Train No.16733 Rameswaram- Okha Express leaving Rameswaram on 18.1.13 are terminated at Madurai and partially cancelled between Madurai and Rameswaram.
Train No. 14260 Varanasi- Rameswaram Express arriving Rameswaram on 16.01.13, Train No. 14259Rameswaram - Varanasi Express leaving Rameswaram on 16.1.13 are terminated at Tiruchchirappalli and partially cancelled between Tiruchchirappalli - Rameswaram.
Another press release said that passengers who were commuting by Train No. 16713 Chennai Egmore - Rameswaram Express were transported to Rameswaram by bus from Mandapam on Sunday.
