Union Minister’s wife hurt in accident

Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office V Narayanasamy’s wife Kalaiselvi (53) was injured in a road accident here on Tuesday.

Police said, the accident happened when Kalaiselvi was returning home after offering worship at Moratandi temple in Villupuram district in a motorcycle with a 25-year-old relative.

The Minister’s wife was riding pillion on the motorcycle when a tempo knocked down the two-wheeler near Muruga Theatre signal.

Kalaiselvi, who was thrown off in the impact, suffered head injuries. However, her relative escaped unhurt in the accident, police sources added.

She was  rushed to the JIPMER. Police arrived at the spot and arrested the driver of the tempo. 

Sources close to the Union Minister said that his wife was recovering fast and it was only a minor injury.

Lt Governor Iqbal Singh, Puducherry Chief Minister  N Rangasamy, Puducherry Assembly Speaker V Sabapathy and a host of legislators visited her at the hospital.

Narayanasamy, on hearing about the mishap, rushed from Delhi to the hospital and met his wife.
