Slogan Contest on Drive Against Child Sex Abuse

VELLORE: Hope House, an NGO, is conducting a contest inviting slogans that call for the prevention of sexual abuse of children. The contest is open to students and the general public with no age limit for entering the contest.

According to the director of Hope House, Ruby Nakka, the purpose of the contest is to raise the level of awareness on the need to protect children from abuse. “We want people to realize that child abuse is a crime and it not only affects their physical bodies but also their mental growth,” he told Express.

The NGO runs a hostel for orphaned and semi-orphaned girl children and has been voicing its concern over recent incidences of sexual abuse against children which are on the rise. “We are worried about the safety of children and this contest is part of our public campaign to ensure the safety and protection of children and for making this world a better place for children to live without fear,” he added. By participating in the contest, we are inviting individuals to join us in the fight against sexual abuse of children, he noted.

Anyone with internet access can take part in the contest by logging on to www.indiahopehouse.org where contestants will be asked to fill up a form.  The slogans can be sent in either Tamil or English language. The deadline for submission is midnight, January 23.

Those who do not have Internet access can send their slogans through SMS to the mobile number 962 947 1920.

Best entries are eligible for a cash prize of `750 and `500 for the first and second category.
