Express News Service

CHENNAI:The DMK on Thursday suspended Tiruchendur MLA Anita Radhakrishnan and high level committee member V Karuppasamy Pandian from its primary membership for violating party discipline and bringing disrepute to the organisation.

General secretary of the party K Anbazhagan, who made the announcements, said the party’s district secretaries would meet in Chennai on May 25 to discuss developments and future course of action.

Reacting to his suspension, Radhakrishnan told reporters that he would have been happy had he been permanently removed from the DMK. The former AIADMK minister said he was ready to vacate his assembly seat, if AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa wished to contest from Tiruchendur. Radhakrishnan, who defected from the AIADMK, had to face stiff opposition from party strongman Periyasamy.
